GENERAL INFORMATION

Policies & Procedures

Visitation

Carter Funeral Home is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. unless during visitation hours which generally last until 8:00 p.m.  Sunday's available by appointments.

Coffee Lounge

Coffee is available to our families and friends and will be consumed in the lounge area or on the front porch.  Smoking is prohibited in the funeral home, however families may smoke on the front porch where cigarette urns are available to dispose of butts or papers.

Jewelry

Any personal items or jewelry placed on the deceased or around the visitation area, is the responsibility of the next of kin or legal representative.  Carter Funeral Home and their staff will be held harmless from any liability due to possible loss, damage or mistakes.

Register Book and Acknowledgement Cards

A register book will be provided for family and friends to sign during visitation and services for packaged arrangements.  Our staff will collect the flower cards prior to services unless other arrangements are made with family, and will be given to the person in charge along with the register book and a supply of acknowledgement cards for flowers, as well as clergy, musicians, and pallbearers.  Additional cards or books can be obtained for a charge if needed.

Newspaper Notices

We will be glad to assist you in placing obituaries in local or other papers, however, we cannot be responsible for mistakes the newspaper can or may make.  If a mistake is made by the newspaper, the newspaper will usually run a corrected notice at no additional charge.

Flowers

Your friends will be sending flowers for the funeral service.  We will make every effort to see that all plants are present in chapel or church services.  Arrangements will be made prior to services with the next of kin or legal representative as to disposition of the plants and non-cemetery arrangements.

Funeral Cost Information

At the conclusion of the arrangement session you will be provided with a copy of the contract authorization you have signed.  This will show the cost of the services, casket, outside container and other items you have asked us to purchase or arrange for you.  At this time we ask that you secure our charges by check, cash, credit card or verifiable assignable insurance; or prearranged funeral plans are accepted when verified and assignable to Carter Funeral Home.  "Cash Advance" items may be paid by check, cash, or credit card.  These items are those items that we pay for you as a convenience to the families we serve

Financial arrangements may be made prior to the actual funeral arrangements session if you do not wish to discuss payment during the arrangement period.
